Risky overtaking
(Preview)
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=cf0_1372050046 Can't help the language [ play on mute if sensitive to some of the more robust parts of the English language ] in this but it's a good example of how the bloke towing the caravan could have been in serious bother if everything turned to custard. Makes...

Oh. My. God!
(Preview)
I just got a rough quote for our Tassy trip and it worked out at $1158, just to get us and the van over there! That's not including a return trip. I couldn't believe it. Does that sound right to you guys? I'm in shock, I didn't believe it would cost so much. We are now considering trying to get cheap flights an...

Aircon
(Preview)
Afternoon all. We are awaiting delivery of our new van, which has a Truma Avanti aircon. unit. The supplier has told us that a Honda 2.0kva inverter generator would suffice to operate it, providing no other 240 volt appliance is being used. This would be fine with us, as a 3kva is too big and bulky for our...

Home Hill Showground
(Preview)
This is just for anyone heading for northern Qld (or already there). In addition to the famed Comfort Stop the good people of Home Hill have opened up their showground. And a very nice place to stop it is. It costs $10 a night for a powered site - the same for unpowered (they like to keep things simple) so...

Avenue of Honour

For those grey nomads already up here in sunny NQ, a must see is the recently opened Avenue of Honour at Tinaburra on the banks of Lake Tinaroo On the Atherton Tableland west of Cairns. A truely magnificent site to pause and reflect and not only on those who have given their lives in Afghanastan. It has be...

Where are the whales?

Has anyone heard where they are seeing whales in SA. We have been told to head for a place called Cactus Beach just below Penong on the Eyre Hwy just past Ceduna. Any comments on this would be most welcome. Thanks Brian and Cheryl

Do you look up before you setup?
(Preview)
We went for a drive out to Murray Falls for a look around and to see how many Nomads were out there enjoying the place. Walking around and having a chat to some of the lucky travellers, I noticed a large branch had broken off the Bluegum Tree next to the couple we were talking to. I pointed it out the guy and...

G'day We are planning a trip to Karumba via Charters Tower at the end of next month. We are towing a large van with a Triton V6 petrol motor. Real dumb newbies!

Hello everyone, My wife and I(46,53) are thinking of taking some long service leave and doing a test run of about 6 weeks before we retire. We have some basic questions. Why does, for example, a mitubishi triton have a braked towing capacity of 2700kg and a Falcon ute has 1700kg when they are a similar v...
