has anybody out there had experience with kulkyne generators. I am on the market for 2kva generator. first option was honda. then looked at kulkyne specs. look impressive but dont know any one who has used this brand? or any other brand to recommend?
Kulkyne seems to be hybrid with Yamaha engine and other components from various manufactuerers not named. I would be worried about warranty etc IF anything went wrong with a hybrid type genny such as this, not backed by a national dealership network as are the majors.
You hear other stories about other products that are hybrids with say the engine manufacturer saying our engine or whatever is not suited to that application or is not matched to other components correctly and therefore no warranty.
I don't want to be alarmist,,, but it's good to know you have backup for products in this price range.

After a very sad experience with a Fong Bong Chong Jennie I did the rounds of, Yamaha, Kulkyne, Honda............ blah..blah..blah Without doubt, Honda is the ONLY supplier with a NATIONAL netwrok of dealers and agents, the only supplier that offers an ANYWHERE in Australia repair/renew solution and the only supplier that offers a product that is made using parts from the company that they say they are, that being Honda!! There are lots of folk who have bought El-Cheepo's and are very happy with them, and good luck to them, if it works for them and the machine works, great, I'm pleased for them. I represent the select few that "took the chance" and have suffered the consequence of having to but a second Jennie in less than a year. Yes I am upset before anybody raises that issue, but equally I am prepared to own up to my failure and am prepared to share my experience. (for what it is worth) As I said on a previous post, "how many people don't admit to buying a cheapy and having a failure"!! Quite a few I reckon.
Honda Warehouse does some good deals, look them up on the internet or give them a call. I didn;t want some of the bits they had on their "special" offer, and they were happy to negotiate around that. Got some extra oil and some other bits instead. I ordered the 2KVA on the 23rd December (my xmas pressie) arrived 2 Jan, was astounded.
Good luck with you purchase.

Definitely would recommend the Honda! We lost power at home for the best part of a week during the January storms and thanks to the gennie (2) we were able to maintain fridge, freezer, TV incl Austar, charge laptops, ipads, run the washing machine, some lights. We only had to scale back when we needed to use any cooking appliances. We had a gum tree from next door fall across our power line .... Unfortunately with the 1000's of power problems in the area, our place was one of the last to be resolved after the initial make safe. We did a fair bit of research and Honda ticked all the boxes.

Honda 2.0i Bought new in 2005 - we travel full time and it is still running sweet. Makes it a cheap machine in the long run. El cheapo's from China - you pays your money and takes your chances - some may even work for a while. But they will get better - eventually
