Hitting the road
(Preview)
I am probably looking for reassurance. Twelve months ago I sold my home in view of purchasing a van and tow vehicle to live life on the road. I bought the van, the vehicle but health issues delayed my new lifestyle. Unfortunately I had to rent for 12 months. That time is nearly here and I am feeling EXTREME...

Going North....., stopping at quieter favourite places.
(Preview)
I'm driving north along the North West Coastal Highway. Travelling in slip on unit on a 4X4 Hilux extra cab tray back. Stopping overnight at places I've stayed at before..., often well off the highway..., away from the noise of rumbling road trains, gensets, large 'gin palace' caravans replete with...

Pipe dream?
(Preview)
Hi all,
I'm nearly 54 years old and I am seriously considering retiring early by selling up and buying a decent size motorhome (currently contemplating the Avida Esperance) and just going where the road takes me, staying months at a time at different places, free camping when possible to reduce ov...

RE: Travelling together

Hello all you fellow travellers. I am enquiring on here if anyone would like to travel with another person (male or female). I am hoping to go from SA to North Queensland in about two months time and don't want to travel alone again. I have a small van and would want someone with their own vehicle to trav...

Finding the hitch perfectly, on your own, using a Gopro & a tablet or phone
(Preview)
I don't have a reversing camera, and my car has poor visability. It's really hard to see what's going on at the rear of the car, so finding the hitch on my own has always been sketchy. I could get it within 1 or 2 ft (getting in and out of the car to check), then I used the ratchet jockey wheel to bring it the rest...

What to do with car keys when swimming
(Preview)
I'm wondering what solo travellers do with electronic car keys when swimming. I'm fine with leaving my keys with my towel at the pool, but I did not go swimming at Ellery Creek (outside of Alice) which was a shame. I've not been solo on a coastal trip yet but when I do I will definitely want to go swimming....

I am having a "three quarter life" crisis I think. I have just reached the ripe old age of 75, my wife has decided someone else will offer her a better life & I still have the Wanderlust that I contracted many years ago. With no family to hold me back, I am seriously thinking about getting back "on the W...

Awning to difficult to put up solo
(Preview)
I bought a 2x2mt awning for my car after my first solo trip to give, but I find it to awkward to put up and take down on my own. So I've only used it on the odd occasion I have company. The hardest part is trying to roll it back up it's just to heavy. Any suggestions Cheers Lucy
