awning anti flap straps

Im looking at getting some of those small clamp on anti flap straps. the ones that have a Velcro strap that goes around the top bar of the awning frame. Is the Velcro strap firm enough to stop the flapping. The full length aluminium bars would be better but also very costly compared to the straps. Ross
