Water supply gauge.

My old caravan has 3 holding water tanks each measuring approx 1200x800x120. Water all clean and clear so assume none used as grey water ... Anyway my problem is that I havent got a clue how much or little water is in them. No visible gauge or anything to know. I take the chickens way out and simply fill all before leaving home and hope for the best. (we free camp generally no water available ) Even a transparent vertical viewing gauge like I have in my lawn mower petrol 5 ltr container would be a bonus. Checked out on line and much seems complicated and or very expensive for 3 tanks. Any advice would be MUCH appreciated from veteran caravaners which we are not yet'' Safe journeys to you all...

There is a wide range of water tank gauges available & they are mostly easy to install.  Certainly within the scope of a reasonable DIY person.  I fitted mine many years ago.

See the attached link.

I would expect that all of your tanks are inter connected so a gauge need only be fitted to one tank.

If you want to re plumb your tanks to individual feeds eg two to the shower & one for drinking then each group would need a gauge & several in the attached link would suffice.   Again quite a simple job.

Hope that helps.

BTW  .. I was interested in your erroneous attachment.

I would assume all the tanks are connected and all empty at same time
for a simple solution you can isolate at least one tank with a simple valve, run system till the tank in use runs dry open valve an you will know how much water you have in reserve

I too have 3 tanks to which I fill as well as draw from independently.

I am about to purchase 3 gauges from https://www.topargee.com.au/store/p2/H2F-SM_Water_Tank_Gauge.html so I can accurately monitor exactly to the litre my remaining capacity.

I am also looking for efficient solenoid ball valves to allow me to select which tank to use from inside the van.

Cheers

Neil

I recently installed a Topargee www.topargee.com.au/store/p2/H2F-SM_Water_Tank_Gauge.html
It will tell you how much water is left (accurately, in litres) irrespective of how many tanks there are if you install it after the pump and before the first tap, but you must re set it when all the tanks are full.

Cheers,
Peter

That is what I am getting, 3 of them, one for each tank.

Hi Neil, this is a link to how I approached the solenoid tank switching.
