An old but good one...

It was a dark and stormy night (of course) in Bass Strait a hundred years ago and two flashing lights were ominously coming closer and closer, each signalling in Morse Code as radio contact had been lost from lightning static. The first flashing light messaged: Please change your direction 15 degrees to north to avoid a collision. The second flashing light responded: Highly recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to south to avoid a collision. First flashing light: This is the captain of an English passenger liner. I say again, divert your course. The second flashing light came back with: No. I say again, you divert your course. First flashing light: This is Captain Wareami from the No Star Line and I am in charge of Britains largest and proudest ocean liner with 1200 passengers onboard and I command that you divert your course now or face the consequences. Second flashing light: This is Jack, the lighthouse keeper of the King Island lighthouse. Your call.

Arrogance often gets in the way of common sense.
