Hello everyone ... 2 more newbies here ... where can we go for Christmas ????

Hi everyone I'm Sue and my husband is Paul ...

We've unexpectedly ended up in a position where we can go away for Christmas, well if the truth be known we're escaping Christmas if we can find somewhere to go !!! We live about an hour south of Perth in WA. I've called a few parks in the MR/Dunsborough/Busselton region but of course they are all fully booked. We can't travel far because we've only got about 6 or 7 days before Paul has to return to work. We don't mind which direction we travel in and we're happy to free camp, also we're travelling with our beloved dacshund Alfie ...  any sugestions would be greatly appreciated !!! If we can't find anywhere to go we're going to have to stay here and the children will come to us, they'll drink all our booze, eat all our food and leave us with a huge mess like they do every year !!!!!  PLEASE HELP blehblehbleh

Hi Sue and Paul welcome to the forum, when we were in WA at Easter a couple of years ago with no booking we ended in Manjimup which is a great little place with lots to see and do.

Beverley is a nice little town, might be hot in summer though.

Welcome to the world of caravanning at Christmas. I take it that by now you will have realised you have left things far too late. In some of the popular areas anything more than 10 months ahead can be too late. In the areas you have specified the regular crowd (meaning the majority of them) book their next years spot before they depart each year. It's just as bad over this side of the country. Anything near the coast, major rivers or storage dams where there is any sort of water sports needs a long term booking.

I suggest that if you wish to still go you look at something inland. Steer clear of any place that will have some form of festival, they will be booked out a few months ago. There have been a couple of suggestions presented. I will throw in another, Quinninup. We had a good 4 days there when we could not into Bridgetown due to a cycling classic hosted there.

Here is a map of parks centred on Quinninup - http://myparklist.com/MapCentre.asp?StateName=WA&TownName=QUINNINUP You just click on the pins for more info.
