If you are travelling around western australia you will absolutely have to share the roads with massive oversize loads and the vehicles transporting them. These loads are up to 9 metres wide and can weigh more than 300 tonnes. Nomads will spend well in excess of $100,000 on a van and vehicle combina...

Well, after today's episode I reckon that I have to be a bit of a goose. For years SWMBO has been complaining about the terrible squeaks that come from the corner steadies as I wind them up or down. They seem particularly noisy as we prepare for an early blast off, no doubt waking up or annoying our neighb...

Hi all, A few times here, and on the other forum, I have seen where people had problems unhooking their caravan from the tow ball. Mainly when the ground is uneven. This is due to not having enough clearance to get the jockey wheel in place. So some people run the van up on ramps. But this really just seems t...

I had found it best to raise the trailamate in the drawbar clamp when towing the van, as I noticed the hydraulics didn't work too well if the unit was laid sideways while travelling. The other day the wheel dropped down while driving! The inner shaft is held in place by a small bolt which screws up into t...

Hi all. I like many others don?t like putting holes in caravan roofs so I sikaflexed it on. A few people have spoken about seeing panels flying off. I came up with this solution. I have just done an over 10,000k trip with no movement. I am not saying that the sikaflex would not have held I look at it as insura...

I have just finished making this cargo barrier for my 200 series L/c. Materials cost $120.00 from the "Big Green Shed" Its not perfect, but It will definitely stop the big lumps from smacking me in the back of the head if the worst happens. The rope is Marine Grade and rated at 900Kg. Regards. Hetho.

This post is for hose who camp in a tent. Most stretchers have pointy legs, that can damage the floor of the tent. They apply a lot of force in a small area, especially if you are on the large size. Also, my stretcher, although sturdy without any wobble, the base of the legs do move a bit when I move around on t...

I am looking at modern motor homes (used LWB size vans) & would appreciate some experienced advice. I do not want to be restricted from some dirt road travel away from large towns so reliability and ease of servicing/repairs/spares are considerations.

I needed 4 AWG cable to lower wire resistance over the distance required. 6 AWG wire was not large enough. Also didn't want to use a larger Anderson plug as that created a list of new problems.
