Pumping water
(Preview)
I tried one of these pumps (pictured) with the shower head removed, to pump water into the vans tanks and it did an ok job. Sure makes life a lot easier than lifting a heavy bladder up and using a funnel. The problem is I had to empty the water bladder into a bucket first as the pump wouldn't fit into the bladd...

Navman Route Options
(Preview)
Hi all, Shortest, Fastest, Easiest or Economical. I am still trying to work out the best option. I definately don't use the Shortest option as at times it tries to take you down some terrible dirt roads. This morning I had it set on Fastest but ended up travelling down some very very minor country ro...

After two years of struggling with this I came to the conclusion that it was never going to work and I'm now trying to figure out why. That's not what I'm asking for help with but this is what I learned. The 120 w alternator can produce 19 amps at the Anderson connector and 13.7 v at the batteries. Bulk batt...

Hello everyone, I had a van service carried out last Thursday & both wheels were cleaned. I discovered one tyre was cracking so I opted to change both. The tyre dealer refused to put a tyre on one rim as he spotted a cracked spoke. I've just done a trip of around 8,000 Kms on that wheel - perhaps with t...

UHF CB: Antenna "gain" discussed
(Preview)
While I have time on my hands I thought I'd discuss antenna gain too as it's a much misunderstood subject. The theory ---------- The first thing to make clear is whoever coined the word "gain" in regard to antenna performance was an idiot. Antennas do not and cannot add energy to a radio signal. This is a...

UHF Radio recommendations

Greetings All, Does anyone have an opinion on a UHF radio and I think more importantly, the antenna. I am a total novice when it comes to these things but I believe most would consider them an excellent investment when out and about Thank you Brian -- Edited by BrianF on Friday 3rd of March 2017 01:40:1...
