Front axle weight y62. My 2018 Y62 has a sticker inside the engine bay that says do not exceed 85kg (weight) on front the axle. I have a roo bar and spotties on the roo bar which weights 75kg total. Whilst I do not plan to add any more permanent weight to the roo bar (or front axle) I see that some people have fr...

In our Discovery we have a big fat cable running through to the back with an Anderson plug we use to charge the 12v 100A battery in the back which either powers the boat winch or runs the fridge in the caravan when we are rolling. Our new car is a Mitsubishi Outlander and I probably won't have time to chase so...

2 months into it and still struggling to find 'that' van. If you want something with decent self-sufficiency, a smidge of luxury for long-term travelling, and decent weights the choices seem to come down to reasonable price (relatively) and shoddy quality, or nice quality and obscene price. We are looking for a 12v DC low wattage and silent fan for keeping the air moving on hot nights. We tried on of those water tank evaporative ones on our boat. Waste of money. We've also found that most dash fans are noisy. There is this, which claims to be silent: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/12V-360-R...

Hi. I am planning my next trip and would like to do Birdsville, via Broken Hill going up, and coming out through Quiplie. I will be driving a Nissan Patrol (4.8 Petrol) pulling a Jayco Starcraft Tourer, NOT Off Road. Would I be in need of "Psychiatric assistance" to attempt such a trip with this combo, or...

Airconditioners and battery power. Apology for my ignorance but I was just wondering how many members use their caravan airconditioners from purely battery power when off road in terms of practical hours of usage. I realise the airconditioners draw a huge amount of power and their off road usage ne...

Or spiral wound type. If anyone still has the original type from around 10-12 years ago, have a good look at them. One failed on us yesterday with an audible " Pop" , heard from 10 meters away. It was very difficult to remove, had almost welded to the bayonet spigots in the light fitting. The other two in th...

Have been looking on eBay but not found a set of mirrors I like the look and price of. We have one set, which has straps that clip to the back of the car mirror, braced with a decent sucker that fits on the door. I'd like another set like this which resists being knocked out of kilter by truck blast from the opp...

Also in the above scenario, should I drain some power from the batteries from time to time or is this not necessary? Basically the c...

I spent last summer camped in the forests of East Gippsland, Victoria. It was hot and very dry and we had some serious bushfires.
