I am again planning a trip, (to be done mid to late Jan 2020) this time to concentrate around the northern part of Victoria, Shepparton, Echuca etc.
I will be accompanied by (my wife) and Daughter and son-in-law, together with their 6 kids, ranging in age for 17 years down to 2 years old. 3 boys and 3 girls.
Does anyone have suggestions as to where we might camp (free to low cost) and what we might do entertain them for 4-5 days at low cost.
We are experienced campers so a bit of roughing will not hut, but need to focus on varied entertainment for the children. I will most assuredly appreciate any suggestions. With thanks, Keiron B
WikiCamps lists a great free camping site on the lake at Moama, just over the bridge. We stayed there in October and it was great. Both towns have good Information Centres with lots of ideas to entertain the kids.
Haven't camped in that part of Victoria for about 5 years - The used to be a nice (donations) camp:- Lake Batyo Catyo, near Donald/ St Arnoud - Don't know if it still has water or still being used.

Plenty of great free/low cost camps along the Murray Keiron, ask some friendly locals when you reach the area, kids love this area, just take care swimming in the river, particularly with younger ones.

Hi LB,
Don't know that one. Just wondering what the name of the lake site is at Moama and directions to get there.

As Dougwe suggests Greens Lake will keep the "Brady Bunch" entertained. Free, new amenities, park your rig on lake foreshore, short 15km drive to Stanhope to get yummy take-aways and get your fresh town water also. Great place for water sports. Beware...Aussie Day long weekend is chockers...get there earlier! Check out the comments on Wikicamps.

G'day Dick0
I think the camp is called Caths Barmah Getaway. No facilities. You need to be self contained.
It is northeast of Moama off the road to Mathoura.
You can free camp around Barmah, along the river BUT the mozzies around that area can be bad then
Have also camped at the earlier suggestion of Lake Cooper, no mozzies those times,
A kayak or canoe would be good, with the right gear too,
Lots of carp in both places, if you fish
