Newbies

Hi all, yes we are total newbies, have our first caravan and heading off next week on a 7 week adventure from NE Vic to Lightning Ridge, St George, Dalby, Gold Coast and then slowly back down the coast to home. Very excited and looking forward to meeting lots of fellow travellers on our way around. Hoping the roads are not to bad as our NE Vic road are atrocious at the moment. I am busy reading lots on these forums to help us on our way

Welcome to the Forum Sandy and Grant.

You are going into God's own country in Western NSW - Remember to travel light coz the van will soon fill up with souvenirs.

Best way to go, if not the quickest. Hopefully heading that way before Christmas myself. Lovely and quite. No too many trucks. Road used to be really good. Would be interested in an up to date assessment. Watch out for roos around St George. They jump out at you from the tall grass at the side of the road even in the middle of the day.

Howdy.
I am heading in your home direction in about two weeks into Vic and some cold country hospitality around Beechworth.
Which route are you intending to take on your way to the Ridge?
The hot springs baths is a good spot.
When there, a couple of mines are worth the visit, the carvings is one.
If you like outback art, then the John Murray gallery is one not to miss.
He is brilliant.
He is a nice fella with it and has a great bush sense of humour.
Be careful which locations you select for overnighters, the crime rates in some locations in Western NSW are off the planet at present.
The smaller towns, Yeoval, Molong, The Ridge etc are OK but you need to have your wits about you at a few other locations.
