I have an increase in pain levels in my hands, more so the right one.
I'm taking Fish Oil, Tumeric, Glucosime and Osteo Panadol (prescribed) tried one of the Pain Away sprays work for a short time but stinks I'm now tryiing Voltarin.
Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar. Take about a tablespoon or two in water first thing in the morning. Also Epsom Salts. About three quarters of a tea spoon full with a bit of water first thing in the morning. Both take about a week before they take effect.
Hope it helps you as much as it helped my old mum.
My Doctor put me on 500mg Magnesium tablets, one in morning and one at bedtime + Panadol 500mg two at bedtime.
I am unaware of any competent diagnosticians currently on the Forum. Go and see your local Medico have blood test (to determine mineral levels). Would be a good starting point.

I bought some cream in Tasmania that is meant to help with osteoarthritis BUT I don't know where I put it when I got back from my trip... Not much help to either you or me, unfortunately. I'll try to look it up in case it might be worth trying. Anybody telling you they've got a "miracle" treatment is fibbing though it's worth trying things that might help when they aren't making ridiculous claims. EDIT: the stuff is called Kunzea
My only suggestion is to consider taking up an activity using your hands on the "use it or lose it" principle. My left hand was very inflexible so I started guitar lessons. Then it was better than my right hand so I started piano. Don't start up doing anything without checking with your doctor(s) but exercise might help. It depends what's awry in there. At the very least, concentrating on something else might distract you from the pain.
Speaking of your doctor(s) are you seeing a rheumatologist or "joint guy", or just the gp? Might be time to seek specialist support, but there's really not a lot anybody can do when your joints are worn out. A specialist might know more about any new treatments than a gp (or not, but it might be worth a consultation to find out)

Read the above and then make your own mind up.
But I will tell you that I have been taking this for years and it keeps my arthritis at bay. If I stop for a week or two my hands become so stiff and painful that I am back on it.
I can testify that it does work although it takes 2 to 3 weeks to see some effect.
It's cheap effective and worth a go if you suffer from arthritis.
I have arthritis in 2 fingers in my left hand (I'm a south paw), and Dequivans tenosynovitis in my right wrist (similar to carpel tunnel).
I could go into a long description of the process, and pain I'm going through, but I won't.
But I will say, I wish someone had told me that 'hand therapist' existed 2 years ago because my therapist is brilliant. It stands to reason that someone who specialises in 'from the shoulder to the end of your fingers' will understand better what is best for you than a GP or a Physio whose knowledge is more general. It costs me $45 gap after Medibank private, but it's worth it to get the best outcome possible.
Gundog, it is believed that people with a inflammatory arthritis (Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteo Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis) will receive benefit from Calcium Fructoborate (with a remarkable superiority over the more common Sodium Tetraborate - Borax) see study below.
I have recently ordered the supplement but won't get it until 12 June or latter.
My arthritis is not severe, so I found reasonable improvement taking Glucosamine.
But I found an interesting side effect when I experimented with a keto diet. The arthritis improved a lot. So, while I am not doing the keto diet anymore, I keep carbs intake to a minimum, particularly the grain products. Now without the Glucosamine, the arthritis is hardly noticeable.
I came to the conclusion that the Osteo Panadol was a waste of time and funds, suffered no more by not taking it.
Caruso's cream does help a little bit, but like all his stuf $$$
I'm interested in all contributions to this thread.
I have been taking curcumin extract for almost 2 years now & found it to be helpful with arthritic pain in my hands.
However over the past few weeks I have been afflicted by what the doctor told me yesterday is most likely Polymyalgia rhumatica (PMR) or less likely Rhumatoid arthritis. It has come on quite suddenly & I have a variety of symptoms, pain & swelling in a variety of locations & worst I cannot lift either of my arms above shoulder height. Very disabling. Awaiting results of blood tests.
Anyway I told the doc I had been taking standard Panadol once a day 3 x 500mg tablets which had helped a bit. I was told quite clearly that this was not a safe practice & that I should take Osteo Panadol. Now I had thought that the higher dose Osteo Pandol was simply a marketing exercise to sell Panadol at higher prices, & had thought that taking an extra third standard Panadol would be pretty much the same. WRONG! Although the Osteo Panadol has more Panadol in it (665mg vs 500mg) - it is a 'modified release' tablet (ie slow release) which provides a safe level of panadol in the body throughout the course of each day - which is why it is a safe & therapeutic option compared to just taking more standard Panadol.
In my case I started taking it yesterday 2 tablets 8 hourly & have been amazed at how well it has worked. Certainly not a cure but it is quite remarkable how much less pain I have today, & how much better I was able to sleep last night.
Obviously we are all different and what helps one wont necessarily help another, but for me Osteo Panadol has come as quite a revelation, with the understanding that I shouldn't expect 'fast' pain relief, but that over a longer period it will provide therapeutic levels of the drug in my system which so far is remarkably effective with pain which Panadeine Forte didn't touch.
Hopefully it isn't polymyalga rhumatica as my mother had that and it can affect your eyesight and send you blind unless you live on cortisone for the rest of your life which is not good either.
