Rexton as a Tug

Welcome to GN's Drummo,
Ssangyong's Rexton is touted as a 3.5 tonne towing capacity (Upgraded from previous 3 tonne towing), 7 seat vehicle - many don't realise that the combination of tug and carrying capacities are unachievable.

As it's powerplant is a 2.2 litre turbo diese,l the ability to have the grunt needed for Australian roads must be questioned.

Ssangyong are a nice vehicle with all the refinements of the current crop of vehicles out of Asia but it's capabilities of a family tug must be questioned.

The Ssangyong company has changed hands far to often to be a stable car builder, they need a different approach and I don't see them competing with KIA & Hyundai never mind the Chinese invasion.

Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.
I think I'll give the Rexton a miss for now. I'll stick to my Colorado, but was hoping to go for an SUV I can put the dog in the back. Maybe I'll look at an older Landcruiser.

Landcruiser 100 and 105 are great vehicles, superior to the much over-rated LC200 IMHO. Or you might consider a 70 series twin-cab or Troopie. Cheers

"SsangYong just managed what appears to be its best Australian monthly result, delivering 400 cars in September to be up 71 per cent on the same month in 2021.

Year-to-date (YTD) the brand has sold 2565 cars, up 17 per cent, putting it on track for between 3400 and 3500 sales across the calendar year another high-water mark.

It sold 2978 vehicles in 2021, and 2645 way back in 2005.

Its best performer is the Musso dual-cab ute with 222 monthly sales and 1120 year-to-date, though its the Rexton large SUV thats grown the most."
