Hi Everyone, We are from Adelaide and have been caravanning for over 20 years and are now on our third and last van. Over the years we have discovered places that we love and we tend to keep going back. We are not adventurous and dont do any off road or free camping. But we love our caravanning.

Our current van is a Jayco Journey 2018 model. We had some teething problems but Jayco quickly sorted them out.

We would like some help with our current issue. We have one of those small queen size island beds and now find that two grey nomads and a small dog are finding it a bit of a squash and at our age we need our sleep!

We have been  asking around about the possibility of having  a conversion to two single beds. We have a rough quote of between $5000 and $8000. Our other thought was to trade in on a second hand van of a similar vintage but with twin beds.

We Just wondering what advice fellow members could give us . Had anyone ever had this type of coversion to their van?

Welcome to the gang Belfastgirl, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Sounds like you love the playground already so just keep on keeping on.

As for the bed situation, especially if your little friend shares the bed. I had single beds built in my aluminium teepee at time of build. The maker wasn't happy as never done them before but hey, I was paying so do it they had too. They reckon the resale value would be next to nothing. Yeh sure.

Now that I am older but still no wiser and aches and pains setting in quicker that quick I found the single beds beds too small so being a solo now after losing my wife I decided in that not better wisdom to put a board across both single bases and put a King Single mattress on it going across the teepee not down like before.

Did I do the right thing? You bet ya. So much better and aches and pains not as bad. Bonus...I have more room to stretch out. I would have put a double but didn't fit in space and the King Single was longer. A Queen size had no hope.

Keep Safe out there.
