"Under the proposed management plan recreational activities will continue to be an important part of managing the lake, along with environmental and cultural values".

"Activities such as kayaking, birdwatching, camping and walking will be central to the future use of Greens Lake with boating able to continue under the proposal subject to conditions at the lake".

"Greens Lake is also part of a significant cultural landscape for the Taungurung people and the management plan seeks to reflect this significance".

"The draft Greens Lake Action Plan also takes into account nearby Waranga Basin as a popular destination for many Greens Lake visitors. The Victorian Government is supporting Goulburn Murray Water as it establishes a free camping ground so more campers can enjoy Waranga Basin and the excellent on-water boating opportunities there".

This is just other speak that Greens Lake will return to its natural state of being a swamp. So forget about any water activities there in the future.

Boating and fishing was a major drawcard for visitors and campers to this site. Boating is now not possible due to the low level of water (conditions of the lake) and the boat ramp is no longer usable. Fishing is now non existent.

When free camping is established at Waranga Basin, Greens will have very few campers visiting this once beautiful site. I doubt whether Greens will see more than one tenth of past numbers this season, if that! It will only keep declining in visitor numbers.

Aysons Reserve, nearby, has a larger camping turnout currently than Greens Lake.

The establishment, in the near future, of Waranga Basin free camping will no doubt assist the town of Rushworth. The demise of Greens Lake will be sad economically to the local towns of Corop, Stanhope and Rochester.

As always, all users must be included in any outcomes, not just special interest groups. And that includes water allocations

Looks like Greens Lake will be returning to its original natural state similar to what happened to Lake Mokoan near Benalla which is now Winton Wetlands.
