"... if one initiates disparagement humor with the positive intention of exposing the absurdity of stereotypes and prejudice, the humor ironically might have the potential to subvert or undermine prejudice."
This quote illustrates that there is a very fine line between black humour or "disparagement humour" and bad taste. I enjoy black humour because it helps me to deal with real life, but one must be very mindful of the audience. Not everyone understands irony or sarcasm.

I had to read that about four times to be sure I understood it. It's unfortunate a professor cannot communicate in a clearer manner.
>absurdity of stereotypes and prejudice
Except they are not absurd; stereotypes exist because of observed behaviour/attitudes within a group and prejudice is normal in young children.
The largest producers and distributors of Jewish jokes are... Jews. I'm half Irish and laugh at Irish jokes therefore I see no reason I should not laugh at Jewish or Italian or Black Lives Matter jokes. If your opinions are formed or reinforced by jokes then you're probably pretty thick.

An elderly Jewish man is knocked over by a car when crossing the road.
A passer-by rushes to his aid and puts a folded coat under the man's head as a pillow; he asks the injured man "Are you comfortable?"
The man replies "Oh, you know... I make a living."

I have heard some extremely funny jokes told by Jews, they seem to have the capability to tell stories that make fun of their lifestyle. So people who see this particular forum as smut, poor taste and foul language may I respectfully suggest that you direct your cursor to bypass it? I mean, why would anyone continue to subject themselves to this "smut" by continually reading it?

There will always be 2 sides to this discussion, but it would be interesting to hear just how the Webmaster views the way the joke section is travelling.
Check out the introduction page to see some of the original aims of this forum.
"One section, which has a warning , is enjoyed by the VAST majority that read it and you are not compelled to read it. So if it offends just skip it and enjoy the rest of the forum that as always has o lot of good information .
Brian"
If you access this forum using an Android smartphone there is nothing to distinguish the likely content of one post from another. The only thing one can do is to figure out which particular posters are limited in creativity to cutting and pasting hundreds and hundreds of one-star jokes from some Web site with no particular standards and just not read any of their posts.
Wouldn't mind if they bothered to select jokes based even on their fairly low standards, but they obviously aim for quantity rather than quality and to hell with any notion of observing copyright law.
Trying to work out how jokes against Germany can be racist, if both sides are mostly the same race.
"The first people to be called "English" were the Anglo-Saxons, a group of closely related Germanic tribes that began migrating to eastern and southern Great Britain, from southern Denmark and northern Germany, in the 5th century AD, after the Romans had withdrawn from Britain. The Anglo-Saxons gave their name to England ("Engla land", meaning "Land of the Angles") and to the English."
nearly 50 replies to a post in the joke section this could be the new hot topic !
Thought to myself the other day when it hit 40 replies, my OP was either seriously humerous or the topic was of some interest, on going back over recent jokes very few generate a single comment, like my view or not the topic certainly got members engaged.
As an aside, perhaps my comment had an effect! the standard of posting in the jokes section has improved out of sight, well done people.
(not meaning to offend those that do not relate as people)
Take the bitch fight elsewhere
This is the joke section, you know, the spot where people come to have a laugh
Relax-n, couldn't agree more. Haven't been on forum for awhile, but when I do, I come to this section only.
For all the other topics, it's the same old, day in, day out, one does get a little tired of everyone trying to be just a little better than the last one.
In fact I may even consider dropping off into the cyber space somewhere else in the future if the bitch fighting can't slow down a bit.
Any joke is a good joke, especially after what we've been through over the past nearly 2 years, and a good joke and a good laugh makes the days a little bit better and brighter
