We are redoing our wills at the moment, and our last will - 10 years old, was uncontestable, back then, but now, we have found out that no will is uncontestable anymore, so are redoing it, and leaving a little bit to everyone, and the rest to our only child, our daughter. What was also raised at the the meeting with our solicitor, was That we should organise for an Enduring Guardian and Power of Attorney, which we never thought of, and we are having that drawn up as well, but they only come into affect after 3 independent doctors sign documents, that we cannot look after our financial well being anymore due to our incapabilities of such due to a permanent or even a temporary mental disability. When you get to a certain age, apparently you have to think about this, and I would advise people to think about it, because if you get that way where you cannot look after yourself or financials and have not organised for it, the Public Trustee could be called in, and you do know what that really entails, usually mismanagement and with them charging massive amount of fees to look after you. and your family having no say on your behalf.

As you know Possum, when a joke comes up on the Joke section, people comment, and sometimes alot of comments are made because the joke has embude something to the viewer, so this is what I thought of that related to me so I thought it might be a help to our members right now.
That is good advice Bikecamper as I know of the rip offs of lawyers and Public trustees, one I know off there was nothing left after trustee invested the funds and lost the lot,so he said.
That is total crap. Not only is there legislation as to where the Public Trustee or lawyer invests there is also a fidelity fund that protects and covers loss.
I know, the case you heard of was a neighbours cousin brother in laws ex wife.
Instead of putting the frighteners into people that might be silly enough to believe you, why dont you read the legislation.
