I use a P1 which is not far behind a P2 for cutting, dust & painting jobs around the house. 

I wouldn't dream of using a surgical mask.

It's not better than wearing no mask, assuming we're still talking about transmission of the govt virus.

It's particulate filtering is suitable only for the workshop-y stuff it's designed (and marketed) to filter.

The valve means your outbound breaths are not filtered. They are considered poor form (for this usage), for excellent reason.

Please do not dream of using that mask for anything other than that which it was specifically designed for
