Hi Scott :)

Sounds like you are living the dream. I am soon to be in a similar position and would love to hear some great spots you have found on your travels.

Cheers Mel

Howdy Scott, many thanks for your work and video.

Did that beautiful run back around 2008 or so.

Great memories brought back this morning.

Thank u 4offer Scott, what I havent been able to find is reasonably priced parks(let alone free sites) around G.C. Do u know of any?It is v hard to find peace given that the ones on coast are filled with families who want all the facilities we G.N. dont need.

Hi Michelle. They're around, but not in huge numbers so I suggest that you download Wikicampd, which is free and lists all sorts of camps, van parks, sights to see etc. Good luck. Cheers

Scott whenever I read, "check out my youtube channel and I make no money from it" my skepticism goes into overdrive. I have lost count of how many facebook groups are continually inundated by the shameless prostitution of youtube on them. I had a look at your youtube channel and surprise, surprise, it is just like all the others. The shirt logos, the sponsors, the unbiased reviews of sponsors products, the staged disasters, we all know the drill. The reason I joined GN was to escape the in your face advertising. Very sad to see it happening here.

  I agree.

So many times I have been encouraged by enthused readers & Internet moneymakers to commercialise our blog in some way or other, but were I to fall for such flattery it would change it. The integrity would be lost. Once you start trying to work to other people's agendas, deadlines or just to chase ever more clicks in the interests of increasing audience because that is what is required to make money you end up following the formula which makes you just another clone.

As I state on our blog - Unlike many travel blogs, this one is, & always will be 100% non commercial. We do not strive for an ever larger audience to make money. Our modest audience has grown slowly & organically over the years .. and thats the way we like it. Thanks for being a part of that.

My 'payback' come in the form of helping us remember stuff, & simply from the joy of sharing ...... of course it's fantastic when people say nice things about what I write and better still when they talk of what it means to them

Keep your skeptical hat on EWIA & have a gander at our blog. It may or may not be to your liking, but it won't be an advertising clone.

We seem to be resurrecting some very old topics of late.

Are we running short on interest with new topics.

I will admit that since I joined I have been reading back on many old topics. Some interesting characters and some interesting topics among the mix.

Thanks Cuppa and I well recall your posts from many years ago in another, not so nice (at the time), place. A certain OAK driver also used to frequent there as well.

When I read your scribing back then, and here today, your words have never been sullied by seeking to $$$$.

The big problem and this applies to the, "what is the harm of this fellow's post" supporters, is that once the door is open to these youtube monetarists, every second post in threads will be "checkout my latest youtube video".

Seriously Grey Nomad members, is this what you want?

It is fairly obvious that the original post was at the best a thin veil to promote a Utube channel.

I have only been on here a short time but in my observations *thin veils* have been a trend on here from time to time and not only for UTube content.

There is nothing wrong with UTube and some other information platforms currently available.

I read from yesterdays topics, a link to a UTube clip that was a technical answer to a valid *how to* question.

Using that clip as an example it would be unlikely anyone on the forum would know the contributor and there could easily have adverts embedded into the content.

I would think that many people would not care one way or the other wether any members blog was sponsored. If the author doesnt want financial support then so be it. It is purely the decision of that author.

This forum has adverts from sponsors, maybe anyone posting commercial promotion for their own business should send the Administrator a cheque for the opportunity to advertise.

Many other forums have rules for this but to blanket blame UTube clips is drawing a very large bow.
