We (John & Lorraine) have been grey nomads for several years, having retired in 2008 and moving to Sth Gippsland in 2009 (2 days before the bushfire that threatened our property). We have owned 4 caravans since 1976. We are now the proud owners of a 2012 Jayco Conquest motorhome on a Mercedes chassis. We are hoping shortly to start our first trip in the "new" vehicle - to far north Qld. We are a bit concerned about the mouse plague which is affecting a large part of our route up north (Newell Hwy). Does anyone have any useful tips for dealing with it?
Welcome to GN's John and Lorraine,
I know there are deterrents for mice like Napthalene Flakes (very hard to get supplies now) - napthalene mothballs in drawers will assist - There is a product called "Scat" which is a pest repellent
( www.bunnings.com.au/multicrop-2l-scat-ready-to-use-animal-repellent_p2960120 ), may work sprayed around MH when parked. ensure you leave no food or crumbs around. put all rice, oats muesli and grain products in sealed plastic containers, set mouse traps in you MH of a night. Ensure your insurance will cover rodent damage in MH. Cheap motion sensor lights would also assist as a deterrent.
