Welcome to GN's Cailey, We have driven to Kings Canyon quite a few times and just walked through on self-guided tour. There is a caravan Park/Campground see;www.kingscanyonresort.com.au/stay/camping-and-caravanning

A warm welcome from me also, Cailey

I was going to Kings Canyon, a few years ago, unfortunately had motor problems, so missed out

Had to get to Adelaide for repairs, from south of Alice Springs

 Hi Cailey

I would highly recommend going to kings canyon now more than ever as you cant climb the big rock and best to do it early in the morning before the buses of kids turn up

cheers

We have been there twice. Did the Rim Walk once and Creek Walk, and both are very good. Some other nice places in area. Well worth visit. Drive yourself is fine. Both Kings Creek Station and the Resort are fine to stay at.

Last time that I visited which was a few years ago, it was open to self entry and walk it on your own.
I havent heard of any requirement to go on an organised tour but strange things happen these days and ordinary Australians are being prevented from doing a number of things that were free and easy in the past.
For better or for worse.
