G’day to all forum members

Gday to all,

Having read this forum in the past and enjoyed the read and have decided to join.

My wife (Kerrie) and me (John) have done reasonably short trips in our (we are 3rd owners) 2003 jayco tandem axle outback pop top, apart for a trip to Lismore and Grafton in NSW(same trip family in area) and Port Lincoln in SA. We have only had the van for 41/2 years.

I have retired, wife still working, we wish to do a long trip from July this year. I have Zero mechanical, electrical or caravan knowledge (bit sad for a 74 y.o. to admit) and having read the posts by various forum members asking for advise and the knowledgeable feed back supplied by members made me understand that this would be the place for a novice like me to become a member.

So thanking the forum for membership and any future advice I may receive from forum members when asked for.

Regards to all,

on behalf of Kerrie and me (John)

Mornington Peninsula Vic.

Welcome aboard.

You've got to start somewhere. You've got a couple more years on me but my only regret is that I didn't start earlier. We had a Kombi for thirteen years only quitting it in 1994 due to my health and my wife's inability to steer, change gears and reach the pedals. Mind you we had fun, travelling the length and breadth of Aussie. We've got a 12 year old Sprinter now, but I miss the Kombi.

I believe this forum is great for seeking knowledge of vehicle mechanics, electrical issues, tyres and tyre pressure monitoring systems plus a whole host of other items that I have not explored yet.

Don't leave it too late, I guess that's the go.

Safe travels, enjoy this big land and take lots of pictures (see "Pick this Place" under General Forum. If you solve the picture location etc, then its up to you to post a newbie for people to guess).

Enjoy. See you on the road sometime.

Regards,

Bazz

Welcome to the gang John and Kerrie, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Mornington Peninsula is a nice part of VIC, I have spent many hours and days there Myself. My X base camp was on the other side in Wonthaggi.

As for your limited knowledge, mate, we have all been there. I still don't know all that much about the mechanics of tugs but I do know where to put the fuel so all good. I have learnt over the last 9 years enough to do minor 12v stuff in the aluminium tent so all good there too.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Hope that it is not too late for me to say, welcome to the forum, John and Kerrie

There are a lot of knowledgable people on this forum, and I have found that they are very friendly, if you ask any questions

Not every traveller is mechanical/electrical savvy

I only carry a very basic toolkit, If I was to have any major problems on the road, I would have to go a workshop, where the tradesmen hang out

After saying that, I am always willing to assist anyone else, (if I know how to fix something), and others (from this forum) have assisted me in the past

Never be afraid to ask others nearby, if something goes wrong, while on the road
