Hello All. This is my first post as a new solo traveller. I have had several motorhomes but never travelled solo before. I am leaving  to travel with another couple in their own motorhome about the 22 October from Camden to Broken Hill into South Australia to the Yorke and Eyre Peninsulars then hopefully across the Nullarbor to Esperance and the Margaret River areas and return before Christmas. If anyone is interested in also tagging along for good company I would like to hear from you. Best regards. Bob.

Thanks Roker. I am already aware of the WA restrictions but hoping that they will change in the next 6-8 weeks. If not I will just do more touring in SA (for which I have a permit) and NSW. Flexibility these days is the name of the game. Thx for your thoughts. Bob75.

Welcome to the gang Bob, enjoy here and out in the playground.

It takes a while to get used to being solo but after a while it gets to the stage that you might be alone but never lonely. There are heaps of great people out here and I tell you that for free.

Me, I have thought of maybe doing a 'tag along' but never done it and not sure if it would work out so will just keep on keeping on as I do now. Enjoy being with your friends though. I have met up with many friends at a destination and enjoyed my time with them and then, when ready, move on.

Last year we did Perth to Poison Creek all along the coast plus going inland a few times. Then The Great Central Road & back to Sydney.

As others have said check the permit for WA, the last I heard is they won't change anything until after their next election due on 13 March 2021 as their residents are happy with the status quo!

Hi Bob and welcome.

Tagging along means just that, you are tagging along with someone making most of the traveling decisions and the travel plans. Last thing you want is friction and conflict in the travel plan decisions.

Anyone else tagging along means the same, they are just tagging along. Otherwise, if the trip is not working out as you have planned then you will need to break away and be prepared to go your own way.

Been there, done that, and leaving the planning to one person should be fine. Group travel does not always work out as first thought.

Hope your upcoming journey is a memorable one.

If you can't get into W.A. (which i doubt) I thoroughly recommend you try S.A. Murray River on your way back; of course I'm a little biased as I live right next to the river.

Some of us are quite content alone and have no need to be loved, we have developed the maturity to be whole unto ourselves rather than crave the support and confirmation of another.

This is also my first post as a solo traveller,  and while I get the gist of your point, I don't think you should call other people idiots, especially when you also fail to quote them correctly..

He said 2(two) is a company, and 3 (three) is a crowd.. It is even in Bold..   Like I said, I agree with your statement, but there is no need to call people names..

My wife and I did a tagalong trip with my friend and his wife in 2015. We went to Karumba and took 2 slightly different routes and met up a few times along the way at different Caravan Parks until we got to Karumba where we stayed for 10 days And then travelled back going our own seperate ways.
We both had a great time and never got in each others way only spending 1 or 2 days together every week or so along the way...it was a great trip and if I ever was to 'share' travel again, I would definitely do it this way.

I will start this solo journey next year, i must confess, i am not used to being on my own. I have had two beautiful long term relationships, and now find myself single at aged 65.
I don't know if i will have a partner by the time i set out on this journey, but, the vehicle i buy will certainly be be big enough for two, and like a few have said, you never know what's around that next corner.

I ride a big BMW motorcycle, and have road trips with mates regularly. My bike is capable of going into some pretty rough terrain, and i often take the roads less travelled, but end up at the same place in pre booked accommodation at the end of the day. We all tell of our adventures of the days riding over dinner and drinks.
I hope i can find a similar situation when i am im my mobile home.

 

I mean look at my picture. Who wouldn't want to hang around with this big rooster?
