Van Insurance

Good morning.

I have just received my first annual insurance renewal for my Jayco Swan Outback which I insured through Jayco at time of purchase last June with NM Insurance Pty Ltd.

The renewal advice states they no longer apply "Platinium Caravan Insurance Cover"  and that insurance cover is no longer available north of the 26th parallel .. ie north of Shark Bay in WA.

The renewal also states there is no longer cover for Emergency Pet Cover, Funeral cover, theft of mobile phones, off road excess, action of trees, reduced temporary accommodation etc.

The annual renewal is $693-36 or $57-78 monthly which is an increase over last year - but with reduced cover.  The increase is not much but I have obtained quotes from RAC WA $382pa and QBE $557pa.

This shows quite a significant range of quotes - $311 cheaper through RAC WA compared to NMI, and $175 cheaper than QBE.

Does anybody have any thoughts or recommendations based on your current insurer and experiences ?   I would appreciate your feedback.

Many thanks - and looking forward to getting back on the road now that WA regions are almost totally available ( to us Sandgropers at least).

Happy travels, stay safe.

Noel from Perth

Welcome to the gang Noel from Perth, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I won't hold it against you being in the 'wild west'.

Jokes aside, through a couple of changes in the second half of 2019 I changed Insurance companies and after research and ringing around to a few different places and also having friends and their friends and family all using the same mob, I changed to Youi for both my car and aluminium teepee. So far so good.

Keep Safe out there.

+2 for YOUI, I use them, specifcally asked about tree branchs falling onto the van, no problems, camp on the murray at xmas & over the years have had 3 close shaves with falling branches even being after being very careful where we park.
