Amazing how many negative wingers are avoided by people that whinge about them... rather than avoid them its better imo to try to get the best out of them, getting to know them is a good start. As for the religious side of the HC buns Christianity has been on the decline for a long time. Times change and most people of typical grey nomad ages cant adapt/change at the same pace. Sorry Tony, but declining involvement, and times changing are not really valid reasons for disrespect for others beliefs. I assume you celebrated Christmas in some manner?

In my opinion, that is a big part of the problems in society, disregarding and down playing the things other hold as important.

Some other instances of such behaviour that I could quote include those who question Anzac Day, and those who question Australia Day. Certainly the changing of the times is no valid reason in my opinion to question the remembrance of those.

A little more tolerance and support of others beliefs would benefit society immensely.

My interest in this aspect of this topic was not theological, as I am agnostic at best, but purely as a comment on what I see as an erosion of decent social mores in the name of nothing more than profit. I often wonder what reaction would be if other non Christian beliefs were used more openly for profit. Would that be accepted so freely.

So I now retreat to the quiet of my lounge chair, and will leave others to their cup of tea, fruit bun, and the discussion.

Only good I can see other than the gourmet issue is the link to Easter.

Like an earlier poster, I have easter 12 months of the year.

If you have lost the connotation, look into the ancient origins of Easter -
certainly ain't Christian, but plenty good anyway!!!

So much heathenism adopted by Christianity it's a wonder that the
churches still promote it under a different "tradition".

 Dont know where you got the idea I disrespect others having their beliefs. Have any belief you like. As for celebrating xmas- no, I didnt "celebrate" it at all, a good reason however to have a family gathering and a good piece of pork.

I served my country in the ADF so I do hold close feelings of our fighting forces.

Think you assume a lot, toss a rock then leave the area with no further discussion. Not so friendly.

Ahh!
The joys of religion or politics.
Lighten up folks, the best form of advertising is to get everyone talking about a product.
There is no such thing as bad advertising.
The bun makers have achieved what they want to achieve...sales and being noticed by most people.

I dont buy them, even at Easter as Rob is not keen on them and I can certainly take them or leave them as well.
I find those ones you buy in those 6 or 12 packs taste like plastic compared to years ago when true bakers actually made them.

Dont like them or dont agree with them being available out of the Easter period then leave them on the shelves of the duopoly stores.

Last year I got them Boxing Day. But I have resisted this time round, I still full from Christmas Day......... maybe tomorrow after a day at work. They always taste good.

No probs the Heaths Im an atheist but I do agree as a society some things should be protected. A simple rule of placing a circle instead of a cross on the buns 11 months of the year would maintain the significance of Easter and the cross. ...circle buns! Tony

Struth! Such a warm (nearly heated) discussion over such a small bun. A bit of stirring the pot, mmm, full of fruit too.

For what it's worth, I would settle for NO cross all year until a couple of weeks before Easter.
