Netgear Night Hawk mobile router.

I am in the process of trying to find the best device- other than a mobile phone to access the internet whilst on the road.

Would appreciate any comment on the Night Hawk Mk2 router, also the best aerial setup suitable for full metal Motorhome.

regards Wayne.

Hi Wayne,
I use one of these for our internet at home, on the road. I bought an aerial from Jaycar but really haven't had to use it.
The limitation is you only get 25GB of data. I get 40 via a shared plan with my mobile with Telstra but they don't offer that sharing plan any more. It's not cheap but then I don't have to pay for a phone on the wall when we're away.

You might have got more replies if you posted the query in the General area.

I recently bought the M2 and am very happy with it.

I'm using with a pair of Log Periodic type of directional antennas. Each antenna cost just over $100. Getting video streamable broadband speeds at campsites where we previously got no internet and only the occasional SMS text on our mobiles. Currently camped on our own property (six acres) due to the border closure. Here our mobiles get one bar and poor broadband but with the M2 and directional antennas get video streamable. (as high as 7.5 Mbps, ranging from 2 to 5 often, usually around 5).

Biggest complaint is how Telstra has it locked down only to their service. It's battery lasts a full day of my wife and I both using it on separate devices.

Update after another two weeks with the Netgear Nighthawk M2. I hadn't pointed the directional antennas in quite the right direction. Rechecked and found I was out by about 30 degrees. Now I'm regularly getting 10mbps and zoom conferences work without much lag. Still quite happy with the nighthawk
