Hi to all members of the Grey Nomads, Chris & Andrew here.
We have recently retired & decided a year or so ago we would buy a new motorhome & travel around Australia.
We have no timetable as such, though reckon 1 to 2 years to do a circumnavigation of this Great Land will see us happy.
We aren't necessarily stereotypical in we have only recently returned to Australia from 12 years living in Phuket, Thailand and our overall plan had been to remain there permanently.
We went there as a lifstyle change, but then decided to return having lived successfully in what is referred to as 'The Land of Smiles', certainly no regrets as we considered living there as an excitingly different to Oz. but the time had come to return & after selling up there, we arrived back into Sydney in mid March into the arms of family & friends.
Before our return we had done much research into various motorhomes, sites, both caravan parks & freecamps & of course searched the forum listings several times a week. Eventually we chose a Sunliner Unicampa Mk 1 on a Renault turbo diesel platform & have had it now a month, we have no issues with the performance or features.
We would like to give a shoutout to the family members & friends who have welcomed us into their homes since we arrived back & also have offered driveways & power etc. since our new lifestyle choice began, we feel truly blessed at the hospitality we received so far & our thanks are with all.
As of yesterday we officially hit the road north, having had a week or so doing a 'shakedown' with relatives on the South Coast, we are now officially what I would call 'Untethered' & spending a few days in Cessnock NSW, on our way to a new life of exploration.
Best Regards to all on this forum, we hope to meet many of you on the road.
Welcome to the gang Chris and Andrew, enjoy here and out in the playground.
I also sold up 5 years ago after many happy years with my late wife and now am a full time GN enjoying the playground solo, how I enjoy to do it. A day here or there, a week here or there OR a month or longer somewhere.
Sounds like all that "Much research" has paid off big time for you both. As you know OZ is a big place so sit back and enjoy as many inches of it as you can. Move quickly or slowly, your call, however,
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

G'day Chris and Andrew and welcome to the forum. Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit. Looks like you've managed to live the dream multiple times :).
