A customer at a local grocer marvelled at the owners quick wit and intelligence.
Tell me, what makes you so smart? the customer asked the owner.
I wouldnt share my secret with just anyone, the owner replied, lowering his voice so the other shoppers wouldnt hear. But since youre a good and faithful customer, Ill let you in on it. Fish heads. You eat enough of them, youll be positively brilliant.
You sell them here? the customer asked.
Only $4 apiece, said the owner.
The customer bought three. A week later, he went back to the store complaining that the fish heads were disgusting and he wasnt any smarter.
You didnt eat enough, said the owner. The customer went home with 20 more fish heads. Two weeks later, he was back and this time, really angry.
Hey, he said, Youre selling me fish heads for $4 apiece when I can buy the whole fish for $2. Youre ripping me off!
You see? the owner replied. Youre getting smarter already!
