I used to receive them as well...however they got very repetitive, and relied on headlines like "Free Camps"' to sell......as an aside I used to get irritated by the cover photos that show idyllic

location, with immaculate awning set up, plus invariably mandatory, middle/elderly aged couple with festoon of red in their hands......smiling inane contented smerks at each other..with a

sparkling new clean Bar B Q'....far from my travelling reality...a cold beer, last thing, to placate my sweaty body...watching my wife cut the last of the kindling for our fire....Lmao....no doubt

the 'Advertising Void' will be filled with similar...at least old 'Fred' will get a well earned rest from all his Heart attack inducing "Happy Hours"......Hoo Roo

Yes, they did write about the same things, Solar vs Generators etc and that Snowy River van has never been slept in..........come to think of it, more drinking time

6 years back I used to like visiting my brother inlaw to read his supply of that magazine, I enjoyed the mag, followed a writer though her travels, found it to be a good read. so when I retired I then forked out the money and had it sent to me for a couple years.

I think it was around the time there was a lot of unnecessary ho are about over weight RVs, last 3 mags never got open, I realised just another add media mag, junk.

For me it want be missed.

When I first thought about buying a van a few years back, I used to get this magazine and also watch the shows on the television. It was okay at first and then seemed to deteriorate rather rapidly.

It would always seem to feature two retired people dressed as if they were going to dinner at the local tennis club, sitting outside with no other vans around, the sunset and the red wine in hand, whilst nearby two perfectly behaved grandchildren played happily together. If not that scene then it would be near the beach with some clown fishing with a look on his face as if he had overdosed on Prozac.

Unfortunately it just became an advertising machine and I lost interest. I guess Fred will have to find something else to do of a morning besides getting in and out of that van he pretended to sleep in.

Had it delivered for a couple of years, then it became boring so cancelled subscription.
Gave all my collection to the local op shop.
Has not been missed at all.

Silly me. Here I have been all this time thinking it was you DM dressed to go to dinner at the tennis club. I'll stop waiting for you to come out now.

Only got that mag a couple of times and like others have said got sick of same old adds. Even the travel shows on the TV are all add based now.

Bring back Jack Absalom I say. I loved the way he warmed his lunch up. Wrap a pie in foil and keep on motor under bonnet while driving around. Come lunchtime, take the pie out slap some tomato sauce on top and bingo, lunch.

I have a subscription to caravan world Its manly pictures and reviews of new vans not much else there ..

it is a shame its gone but when I took out my subscription the mag had around 295 pages and over the last eight or nine months has got down to about 135 pages mostly ads no 269 is down to 97 pages and price is still the same, I did email them asking why it was getting smaller and still the same price didn't get a answer so I cancelled my subscription no 269 was the last one left. hope you do get a refund vicar but I don't like your chances

The statement from Management in the forum on the magazines website says no more subscription mags, no more digital magazine but will still be available at news agents.

I guess the $40 year subscription was not sustainable.

I collected them for years but got sick of the repetition and ever increasing adds. I was reluctant to give up my collection so I cut out all the interesting camp sites etc, collated them by state and have them in a folder. Might look at it one day but do nearly all my research on line now. Might take it on the next trip for fire starters lol.

I subscribed for 18 months - the free gift was useful at times (a powered nut ratchet remover - not so much for wheel nuts but for the front shocker nuts on Nissan Patrols).
I've kept sections out of them, whole magazines where more than one item was interesting & ditched the rest.

I guess it's hard to compete out there when there are like magazines - Caravan World, Caper Trailer Australia, Roam, etc. And I, for one didn't mind the adverts.

My biggest grouch was the one measurement that was lacking in their caravan tests - internal height. When I complained, I was told when I ordered a van, I could have it built to any height I wanted! All very well if I was getting a new van but being on my second 2nd hand unit, I think that will be a pipe dream! And being 6'6" tall creates something that shorter people don't experience - hitting their skull on the door, airconditioner, winders for various parts & the ceiling itself.

So good luck Fred & Co. - if you want to start another magazine again, don't ignore constructive criticism!

I only buy either a CW or C&MH magazine now when I'm travelling & want something to read - at home, I can borrow them from the library.
