Tassie hey! Ya in for a real treat down there and I tell you that for free.

I won't recommend anything as everyone is different but there are heaps of 'alternative' camp spots as there are CVP's. Not only them but heaps of great places to see and visit. One thing I will say though is, keep the movie 'Deliverance' in mind when in the mountain areas  biggrinbiggrin

I love Tassie as do everyone else that have been there. I did hear a Banjo though at one stage biggrin I just got the Guitar out and had a Duel. All good then biggrin

Keep Safe of the roads and out there.

Currently over here ourselves.
Was over here last year as well. Depending on your length of time over here a very interesting place to stay at is Quamby Corner at6 Golden Valley, approx. 20 mins from Deloraine. Look it up and in the mean time I will try and find the link to it.

Found link, hope it works

1st night in Tassie, stay in Latrobe behind IGA. $10 a night, self contained. Stock up and walk around town, fantastic spot to get acquainted with Tassie.

Exactly where is this $10 camp? WikiCamps shows three sites. OC Ling CP is $23 per night. There are also two day use only places labelled Turners Beach and BBQ beach parking.

TB_title.pngThe O.C.Ling Memorial Caravan Park is nestled just behind the sand dunes of the expansive and pristine Turners Beach main beach and is only a minute walk to the mouth of the Forth River. Phone 0499 949 584 to make a reservation.

Our resident manager will greet you upon your arrival and is only too willing to share his knowledge of the Turners Beach and Forth surrounds.

Hi Peter,

Sorry Peter, it was 2017 when I was there and on looking at Camp 8 book you are right, a powered site is now $23.00 per nite.  The park is clean and tidy and well maintained.  Gwynnie floating.gif

At $23 it still sounds like good value.

Ended up staying at girdlestone anyway not bad but not that great , probably 10 vans there . filled up tanks there and did some grocery shopping at dev then off to forth , got here yesterday after lunch , good grassy spot with river view. Bloody backpackers down other end leaving their usual mess , bins all spilling over. They dont take their rubbish with them. Heading up to cradle mountain tomorrow for the day . Going to checkout a few campsites b4 towing the van up . Thxs for the replys internet wasn't any good on the boat but good when we got to dev.
