How true that is. Queues of 15 deep at each of 3 registers open when I was in there a few days ago.

I have actually seen two on the cash registers, and two on the check yourself out, area

I do not use the check yourself out area, for two reasons

  1. I could be doing someone out of a job
  2. smile I would appear to be, as silly as I look smile

Only store that I visited on Xmas eve that had all checkouts open - Dan Murphy's.

Why do Coles and Woolies have so many checkouts but only have a few open? I thought that Xmas Eve was the busiest day and hence all registers should be open. And don't you just love the Kmart checkouts in the middle of the shop.

I agree on both cases!

LLD - On Kmart - I agree as well. What a stupid idea but I guess they got a new managing director who had to make HIS mark on the stores.

Years ago when my daughter was a "checkout chick" at Woollies, she had an inconsiderate customer come through at 2355 hrs on the night before Christmas Eve with an over full trolley load of groceries!! She wasn't impressed!

Possum, where is your source of double meaning jokes? It's good!

 Nah. I reckon some young designer has some dirty pictures of a new MD and had forced the redesign as a blackmail joke.
