More than a couple of jokes interrupt the flow of recent topics
Permalink Closed

Ten or twelve jokes one after the other ruin the feed of recently active topics.

Many of the jokes are quite funny but spread them over the week for the sake of the feed of the active topics.

Thank you..

Not dissimilar to the multiple recall posts that were put up one after the other. no no no

Sook, I love the jokes, best part of the forum, put up as many as you like, I may even join you in protest by putting up a dozen or so of my own.

Get a life you lot of wingers, so you had to click the mouse a few times, yep totally ruined it hey???

Hardly a sook gringo, is there a real need for that?

I enjoy the jokes as well as most people.

It may be simple click on a mouse if you are on a desktop but many people are on mobile devices these days and posting 12 or more in a row makes the recent topics that many others are interested in, drop off the page.

If you need to read 12 or more jokes in a row then go to the main board and click on Just Joking. They will all be there even if posted a couple at a time but it will not interrupt the Active Topics page.

You can please yourself gringo but you may find that I am entitled to my view just as you are.

So much crap going on in the world & some jokes to help us to forget them for a brief while to stop & have a laugh becomes a real world issue

Please explain yourself for those who only use a computer and not a phone. The only problem is I see is that too many members post them in other forums and not in this forum. I do note too many jokes being posted in  "I digress ...".

I was under the impression that the jokes were submitted in the JOKES section ,
So do not know what Dick is bitching about,

Gday...

Dickdownunder, like each of us, has the right to express his opinion on any topic or subject or other opinion posted on the forum.

Therefore it is perfectly OK for Dickdownunder to express his concern, frustration and displeasure with how others use the forum.

Like any of our own opinions etc, it doesn't matter whether his concern or displeasure is justified.

cheers - John

Nobody is saying he has no right of opinion, even if it just to winge,
However we also have to right to rebuff those opinions.
If that were not the case then we become like the government of today full of self important politically correct wingers.

Just my opinion though of course..

This is what the active topics page looks like when someone does multiple posts. This is taken from the second page today as I bumped the other posts back to he top.

If someone is following a post closely or waiting for a reply it is very annoying to have to traul back to find the topic you were following or were in the process of replying to.

The reason other posts came back to the top in this last fiasco was that I bumped them to bring a lot of them back.

As I said above I dont mind a good joke and I tend to read most of them, I have even posted a couple but I liken posting multiple jokes or even recall notices to basically just talking over the top of others.

So away you go and over analyse the crap out of the situation then the same crew can circle the wagons and start shooting.....

Wow, not only a winger, but someone who gets very annoyed when someone disagrees.
And a doo-gooder too, thanx heaps for sorting out that disturbing problem.

Perhaps in future you could do like the rest of us do and just swipe across the stuff your not interested in.
You know, like the ten thousandth time someone wants to know if their battery is dead, or one thousandth time we get asked how to wire up a solar system.
Or even worse how to get away with fitting a box on the back of your van that we all know is dangerous and often illegal.
Those are the things I scroll past.
But do I complain about it?
I often have to go 3 or 4 pages into the new comments to find something of interest, it's not that hard.
But I just find what interests me and make no fuss.
However I'm not about to let you try and use a precedent to get the jokes page limited like you are suggesting should happen - that's when I started to post a disagreement with you.
Leave the jokers section alone.

You know what gringo, I am not annoyed with those who disagree but what does annoy me is your rudeness.

I have in no way advocated the changing of the joke forum, all I suggested was that anyone who posts jokes just post a couple at a time so as not to disrupt the Active Topics Page.

For those that dont use the Active Topics page then those people would not realise what happens to a topic when the page is bombarded with joke posts one after the other.

Just imagine if there were half a dozen people who all posted jokes like has just happened. I count 18 jokes times 6 would equal 108 jokes all in a row and all on the Active Topics page.

If one person wishes to post multiple jokes or other information for that matter why not post all the jokes under one topic heading and just place a title above each joke in the one post so it only appears as one topic in the Active Topics. Or post them separately but not one directly after the other.

This would give the same result of getting the funnies out for everyone to read but keeps the Active Topics page in some form of order.

Maybe that would be just too simple.

Thanks everyone for your input; however I think I will close this now.  We welcome suggestions and differences of opinions, however, please ensure that your comments focus on the topic rather than at the person who posted it.
