hi guys found a 120 watt folding panel the other week . 1 panel was shattered . So me being dragged it back to camp wired it up and bingo works a treat . Makes what the tag says . Moral to the story dont throw away shattered panels .

Hi Graeme,
The modern panels tend to be made from a plastic material unlike the older BP Solar & Solarex that had a thin layer of glass over the crystals. I found that out when I was trying to reduce the size of a burnt panel off my roof to go in the bin. I was able to cut it with tin snips!

Your panel might not work at its rated output, but hey, it was free I assume. What current are you getting out of it?

20 volts and 5.8 amps . Works for me . The glass is shattered . When it fails I will throw that panel away and just use it as a 60 watt panel . As it only for charging my 50 amp lithium batteries I use for small things . Ie . Pump bow thruster in the boat .
