Tips on towing your car with your motorhome

Hi everyone, Just looking for advice on towing our car with our motorhome.

What damage may be done to the car driveline.

We have a nissan dualis awd.

Any other info or tips would be appreciated.

G'day Gezdet and welcome to the forum.  Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit. I can't give any firsthand answers re the towing car - although a flat car trailer would obviously work rather than one of the motorhome to car hitch methods - and could be towed by the car as well.  What ever is used make sure of your weights.

We are towing a 1998 Suzuki as this is the only 4x4 that fits withing our 3.5:1 limit for 'Flat' towing weight. We have traveled from Perth to Adelaide via a long and windy route taking in Cobar Pede and have had no problems. The process of getting a permit to tow is quite involved, at least in WA, but quiet persistence gets you there. We have traveled many KMs in out Motorhome in Europe and found the lack of personal transport a problem, which we solved over there by hiring a small car when we parked up in towns with hire car franchise but here with the wider roads we decided to take our own vehicle and on a small 4x4 to allow us to get off the beaten track safely. We have just joined the Grey Nomads and this is our first post.

There should'nt be any problems but you MUST put your transfer box as well as the gear box in NEUTRAL when towing and don't forget to have a key in the ignition to prevent the steering wheel lock activating.
