Joe, you have just shown the World the best way to eat chicken - now they will all go out and buy all the wings - shame.
Seriously, we have been doing this to wings for several years now even on charcoal briquettes when there is no fire-pit - I bought a small (very light gauge metal) BBQ (looks like an old Sunbeam Frypan) and a wire mesh fold-over grill - cooks the wings to perfection.
