Yeah .. I used to have great difficulty filling the water tanks in my van ...... until I discovered it worked better with the hose.

Neil, I have found that I get better filling if I use a hose without a fitting on the end. I poke the hose down the filler pipe/hose around 200 - 300 mm. This provides just enough pressure to blow out any water that collects in the breather tubes that cause an air lock. It also provides enough pressure to force the supply water through any airlocks in the filler hoses.

Have you tried that? I use the pictured fitting to join a short length of hose onto the water supply hose and poke that down into the filler.

Here is what I made up, hose down the filler with some taped around for sealing. When the water starts flowing out the breather it is full. Have to be careful breather is not BLOCKED as could rupture tank. Common sense needs to prevail. biggrin

You can't get water into a tank unless you also get the air out.
Fit REALLY good, decent size vents and you will have no trouble at all.
We have 4 water tanks totalling 280L and I can fill them at the maximum delivery rate of the supply.

Not your brand . Ours has connection on outlet of tanks . So when connected and tap turned on .. it fills from the bottom up . Just undo top cover to let air out . Fills very fast .

Hi Neal, most problems with water filling are due to the return air line having some water in it and stopping the new supply entering the tank. particularly if filling out of jerry cans as this is a low pressure supply.

Aussie Pauls excellent pic shows some tape around the hose. This is the best trick yet, as it prevent the water coming back at the filler upper, you.
It makes the tank slightly pressurized and clears any ting out of the air line.
Some manufactures lace their return air line back to the filling point in any fashion without a care for the future owner.

Mine's not a Kedron, but for 2 years I was getting hot under the collar every time I refilled the water tanks as I could only do it with low pressure. Otherwise the water would just flow back. I figured it was something to do with the breathers being somehow clocked, and even after two dealers servicing departments tried to rectify it, there was no change.

In the end, I cracked the sh___s and disconnected the thin breather hoses and fitted larger diameter one, ran them to the back of the van, and voila, no more problems. Can now fill my tanks at high pressure. Fitted caps on the new hoses to stop any dirt/insects etc getting in between refills.

Or if you are a handy type person put a t piece in the pickup line from the tank before the pump plus an in line tap with a small pipe tp the outer sde of the van ad a connector like pictured above then it is simple just connect to hose open in line tap take filler caps off (to let air out of tanks) turn on hose and when tanks overflow through filler caps they are full without any air locks.
