Recently I asked if any G/N would have an older style 12 volt car radio.
"Nomad came to the rescue with one from his shed. I haven't tried to fit it yet, as the rain is fairly constant. Soon as I have it "pouring out" the ABC, I will let you know.
Next request. I am one of Australia's "brilliant", but yet undiscovered writers. I have written 2 books about my years as a truckie, in the 60's.
In the NT, you could get a license to drive road trains at the age of 17. I kid you not. All you had to do was to front up to Bob Hamilton, at motor registery, Alice Springs, in a commercial vehicle, drive around the block, and you had a "C" class license. My test was done in a FC Holden ute! I have written a book about my years as a truckie, and a book as an interstate coach captain, when a lot of roads in the outback were just tracks.
The point of all this is that my old PC has died. I have gone to many electrical retailers in search of another PC. The cheapest is about what I get for my pension.
So, if a G/N has one lurking in the shed out the back, I would be happy to come forth with "coin of the realm", providing it isn't too much.
I need one with a big screen, and a keyboard. I know that I could "trawl" the op shops, but it's hard to say what would available.
Finally, I am not into that face book or twitter thing, so if any G/N would like a copy of the two books, for free, I can e mail them to you, NO CHARGE!
If one G/N gets them, reads them and understands there is no "shoonkies", good.

PIPES
I can't help with a PC as all mine wear out. BUT pipes I would love your truckie experiences.
Pretty sure someone will be along to help you out Pipes! Sounds like a good life you have lived so far - keep on truckin' !!! Once a truckie, always a truckie, they say.

I have read both of Pipe,s books...and a good read they are too. He sent me copies of them before he landed on my doorstep to get his GL700 Honda.s alternator going again....and we had many a good yarn about many things while waiting for parts etc.
Sadly....both copies were lost in a changeover of machinery...and I guess that's the way it goes hey.
Cheers PIPES...regards Keith
