Not sure if t here is a specific one - maybe to do with CMCA - however this forum belongs to The Grey Nomads - and we have a solo section, in which you have posted. And yes there is a The Grey Nomads facebook page.

Welcome to the forum - keep on visiting - lots of good info on here.

Rolling Solo was started as a way for women that enjoy travelling on their own in Australia a safe place to discuss camping related information, make new friends and meet up with other like minded women. Our events are for women only.  Events are a time for us to leave behind the day to day of domestic life and take time out for ourselves.  Chat, laugh, learn and feel comfortable.

Is such a discriminatory operation permitted under the sex discrimination laws? I'm doubtful.

I used to belong to Rolling Solo until I saw it was becoming a commercial site, a business to the person running it.
I can find enough to do on the road, on my own, without paying someone to show me the way.

I was a member of Rolling Solo, until they expected us to pay. I thought they would have kept their F.B page open but the almighty $$ took over.

Their FB page had reopened a week or so ago - I havent checked in the last week - a large number moved across to Chicks Camping Crew when they closed the FB book - there was much critism of Rollin Solo and then the FB page was reopened - need to check and see if it has stated open

Come on people we have a great website here, there is no need to advertise paid subscription sites and indeed is probably against forum rules.

It has nothing to do with competing with this forum...its a completely different set up, works differently, and doesn't poach members from here.

Someone asked a question, and got an answer.....its not a competition

I am opting out of this discussion - no competition meant - I asked an innocent question as I may have missed something
Thanks everyone for the discussion but please leave it here
Regards
Rosanne

No need for the aggression Rosie, it's just how I interpret point 5 of the forum rules. Have a good day.

It took me 7 or 8 years to pluck up the courage to join this one !!!

Stay safe

Regarding the last sentence,  if required it is easy to get an exemption from the Human Rights Commish for a girls/womens only, similarly if ever challenged.  Not so where it goes the other way.

It will get interesting now that the media and talking heads are giving such prominence to 'gender fluidity' as well as the usual 'alphabetical' (I am unsure of the current preferred lettering).

While on the subject, this article is interesting,

'Political correctness 'stifling Australian cinema..'

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-03-24/political-correctness-stifling-australian-cinema-filmmaker-says/9571006

Need to remake 'Nineteen Eighty-four'?

Interesting article - I'm surprised the ABC published it.

Two great quotes from it:

"it's easier to rape and murder a woman in an Australian film than it is to marry one"

"And believe me, political correctness is the death of art."

So many renowned artists of the past I can think of (in literature, music and the visual arts) who undoubtedly would have been rejected for a grant today. Kipling's poetry would not have got a look in. And as for Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening"... - "Robert; we just don't see you portraying the horse as a victim of man's cruelty to animals....: :)

Mike Retter sounds like a very capable young man and I expect to hear more of him in the future.
