New to the road

Starting my adventure soon. Cannot afford a flash van so it's the bargain basement for me. Just need a van to take me some where to work out where I want to be..

Thank you. I cannot go overboard as when I find a place I will buy land and build. There's so many vans and motor homes for sale that I am afraid I might get stuck. Will have the nice 4 wheel drive though and my adult disabled son and my dog's. No we won't be staying in parks and keeping away from camping grounds as my dogs have lived rural and aren't too social. Cannot and will not leave them behind and this is our new journeyð.

G'day Gingerbiscuit and welcome to the forum.  Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit.  Good luck and enjoy your travels.

Welcome to the gang Gingerbiscuit, enjoy here and out in the playground.

Tent, backpac, swag, camper, van etc. Doesn't matter what just as long as you are in the playground all's good and I tell you that for free.

Also a warm welcome from me, Gingerbiscuit

You do not need a flash caravan to travel

I managed to do the lap in a 1970's caravan, I just carried a shower tent, and a porti pottie, and stayed in the free camps

I hope that you and your son, and your dogs, have a happy time on the road, and find the land you are looking for

If as you say, your dogs are not too social, if you keep them on leads when you stop, other travellers will appreciate it

I have been working in the Terrority as a Social Worker and that's where I am buying land. We won't be camping near anyone I live isolated now so all good with being alone.

We weren't prepared for this but we have to go.I will miss my farm but I have my son and dog's and it's all good. I am buying a top dog trailer and have a medicine chest that will equal a vet clinic. Bark collars - chain's because Lilly will run first chance to go home and muzzles to stop them picking up baits and toxic products when we stop. We have to take one little boy to the vet before we go because he won't make it as he is very ill and has huge issues. I guess there's many like us leaving with lots of sadness but stay positive precious soul's because surely now when one door closes one will open with sunshine.ð

Thanks everyone and I will be staying in this forum. Just unliked myself from one caravan group over too much conflict. Not my circus not my monkey's. I am off to find a new home and just relaxxxxxxx for a while because its been a tough 3 year's for us. I am not buying a van because I believe I am not confident enough to pull it and then with a motor home is the stress of selling. So it's a 4 wheel drive and dog trailer for my beloved dogs and a tent. If days become hard we will book into a hotel/motel. That's the way just fluff up your tutu and drive awayðð.

I have decided hopefully to settle on a camper trailer ð¤ð¤. I am not confident enough to tow a van yet the dealer keeps insisting it's better. I said that there's been a few roll overs and a camper trailer like the Avan might be better. He replied with all the accidents on the road what a couple of roll overs a week ð£ð£ð£. I was going to stay in motels but that won't work - tents may be too challenging for me and I think the camper trailer pop up may be the go. I am a wee bit scared and that's unusual for me but I am responsible for the safety of my son - dog's and other road users. Easy does it I believe.
