The following is attributed to Giles Cholmondely-Smythe, 1870-1912, Poet, Thespian and well known soak.
A fart is a pleasant thing,
It gives the bowel great ease,
It warms the bed on a frosty night, and suffocates the fleas.
It is better to keep your mouth closed, and let people think you are fool than to open it, and remove all doubt.
