HI all Sue has finally had a sleep test and has been recommended she get a CPAP machine I have toured the internet and used the search button up top here, it would seem that the resmed brand is popular with GNs, now these things are not exactly a dime a dozen and GNs are known for savy shopping, when it comes to our health quality is more important than the price and as such it is also to us, so price not being a concern is the resmed the best way to go ?.
any pointers form users would be nice to add to our deliberations
or point us to other Cpap sites for further info.
Thanks
woody

Mrs dabbler uses a F&P Icon+ Auto. If it goes travelling it is used in an inverter but you can buy an optional rechargeable battery. Her experience is mask type and fitting method is more important than make/model.
I have a Philips Respironics it's a 12volt , no inverter needed , all machines do the same thing getting the right mask for you is the most important , I use a swift nasal pillows .
Thanks guys you make a good point we hadn't considered the mask as the # 1 consideration .

www.cpap.com I have Philips Respironics machine and use the appropriate 12v lead. I was using a Respironics nasal pillow mask but now use Resmed AirFit N20 Nasal CPAP Mask. Less leaks and much better results. My pressure setting is 15. Difficult to get good sealing with nasal pillows over a 10 setting.

Both my wife and I use CPAP's in the van and we have been on the road for the past 9 months.
We have Resmed S9 machines which have been very reliable, both running on 240v supplied by a Projector 300 watt Pure Sine Wave invertor. They run approx 8-9 hrs per night with very little power consumption. All in all, we are very happy with them.
As JackoFJR said, all machines doe the same thing, more or less, but the the correct mask and fit is the most important thing. If the fit is not correct, it will compromise the treatment of the condition.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and experiences they are much appreciated .

The mask I use has been discontinued, I actually have 2 of them , I needed a new head strap there wasn't any availa here in Aussie , I got two new head straps and a complete mask from the US .
I use a Dreamstation, with a 12 volt power lead in the van.
The machines are pretty much all doing the same job....blow air, maintain pressure and record data. You can buy cheap machine without the humidifier ...my advice is don't. You can buy cheap machines which don't record data.... again my advice is don't.
I 100% agree with everyone saying the mask is most important......try before you buy as no mask suits everyone. I tried about 5 or 6 before I parted with my $$$
Bruce has used a Resmed machine and humidifier for at least 7 year. It has never broken down although he has had to get a new mask and headstrap at least twice I think. It runs well on 240 and just as well on 12 volt. We bought an appropriate pure sinewave inverter but he never uses it now as he has found the 12 volt converter does the job and uses very little battery power.
As the person who sleeps next to it I find it is quiet.
Thanks again fellow GNS we will be checking them out next week in Mildura
