Hi all, I am seriously contemplating purchasing a new Regal Commander 22 foot caravan complete with slide out bedroom. I don't seem to get much feedback on these vans, I was wondering if there are any members out there that may own a Regal and if I could have their unbiased thoughts regarding build quality. It is a big investment. Many thanks for any assistance. Regards Phil
Loaded "ready to go " weight of the tow vehicle/caravan combination ( taking in the legal capacities of your tow vehicle and caravan ) should be your greatest concern if you have not already taken this into consideration. Hitch the van , load it up and weigh each axle to get the facts before parting with a single dollar.

Welcome to the gang Phil, enjoy here and out in the playground.
I agree, weights of van and tug are probably the two most important things about this GN life. Not only GN's, all vans and the like. DON'T GO OVER EITHER.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Don't know the van you speak of, but, as already stated weights are your very first starting point and don't believe those tare numbers on the ID plate get it weighed then you have a real number to work from you may find that you can only put a couple of hundred kg in the van before you reach it's gross limit, and don't think for a second that you can tow and carry the max that your tug ID plate says as you have to consider what you put in the tug including driver and passenger and the weight transferred on to the tug.
It's a mine field really takes a bit of getting your head around if you are not already conversant in towing weights .
Phew ather than that it's great fun traveling around this wonderfull country .
Enjoy

G'day Phil and welcome to the forum. Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit. on't have that bran so can't comment but will point out the main proviso - make sure the weights all work out, allowing you to actually take some cloths! - just like everyone else says.
Thanks all all that replied, I really appreciate the advice re weights. I have owned a van since 1985 and am conversant with the weight situation. I have my eye on the 22' Regal Commander, I believe that it is a relatively new model, the thing I don't seem to be able to get any feedback on is the build quality of the Regal caravans in general and their after sales service or an opinion on same. I use Product Review and read various forums but they all have nothing when it comes to Regal. I am hesitant to spend considerable money on the say so of a salesman. The van looks fabulous but what happens after you take it on the road is the most important thing. So if anyone knows a Regal owner I'd really appreciate feedback. Regards Phil
Hi Mantis, I have a 21ft Regal Deluxe Comfort Tourer Van.....overall length is 30ft. Regal have been around for a very very long time and I can assure you they are quality built caravans. Although I bought mine 2nd hand the weight distribution on the van is perfect and the quality of the build both inside and outside is very pleasing. The "balance" of the van is perfect and I rarely feel the van in any cross winds....they know how to build caravans.
