Rayaroundoz April May June Update

My latest weekend escapes can be read at rayaroundoz.wordpress.com

The highlight was definitely camping with 3 of my 4 sons near Dwellingup WA. Anyone who used to take their kids camping and has also camped with them as adults will be able to relate to the following poem I penned on the Sunday morning after a night around the campfire.

Camping with my boys 2017

A weekend away with the boys can reinvigorate the soul

And remind me it's just a state of mind - this thing "getting old"

Just listening to the banter and the exuberance of youth

As the drink starts to flow - the syrup of truth

To see first hand the interactions of brothers in arms

And to know that each has each others back should one come to harm

Their choice of female companion can not be faulted as well

To see them all so happy well it makes my heart swell

I think back to a time not so many years ago

As a family all together camping we would go

Weekends full of fun, laughter and some tears

Whatever happened to those intervening years?

In a blink of an eye they have grown up into fine men

But sitting around the campfire well it takes me back then

Well the stories have matured and the swearing increased

But the fun and the enjoyment is still there at least

Thanks for the invite and for a weekend of fun

Enjoying with your friends the April sun

I am really glad that you invited me up

To camp with you all near Dwellingup

Nice work Ray.

Loved your blog. Yep, that Anzac Centre is a definite must see, although our experience at the restaurant wasn't as good as yours. The food we ordered was so-so, and pricey. I wonder if the place has changed hands since we were there in late 2015. So many good memories tweaked for me from your journeys. We've had a lot of great stays up at Baden-Powell and Nanga fishing and camping over the years with family and friends. Thanks for that.
