Birdsville races

hi all.  I've done a few trips, and I am hoping to do 4-5 weeks in August/September.  Going to leave Brisbane and head west to have a look. Why. Just because.  Just planning at the moment, but hope to take in white cliffs, Cameron's corner, innamincka, S.A., etc, finishing up at the Birdsville races at the start of September.  If there is anyone thinking the same, we could always meet up somewhere.  No real plans, except the races.  Never done it so want to cross it off the bucket list.  Of course Im happy to chat / meet up / or travel with solos (female and male), or couples.  cheers, happy travels

Just take care Karen. Don't be in a hurry & reduce your tyre pressures a bit while on the dirt. We went from Cunnamulla to Innaminka two years ago & found most of the road (in Qld) was bitumen. And down the Strzlecki Track was reasonably easy.

While you are there, you have to have a look at Betoota, or at least what is left of the pub.

I believe it is now abandoned after the last resident, Sigmund Remienko, the pub owner, died in 2004.

In the mid 1990s I did a trip from Canberra to Betoota and back. Had a drink in that pub.

Thanks for that Greg. I'll put it in the to do book, and have a coldy there as well, even though it'll be out of my own fridge.
I will remember to reduce my tyres Warren. Cheers all.

We're off to the races too. If you see an aging Discovery 2 with a Balance Trailers camper come over and say hello.
