I don't like Bunnings , wiped out some good retailers in Albury, people were silly by not supporting the small traders , now they have no choice to compare prices any more, cheers

They do deserve credit however for revolutionising 'family' shopping at hardware stores. Prior to Bunnings and their style of selling you would rarely see females, children or couples in hardware stores. Bunnings made them "family friendly" and now at weekends their stores are pretty well attended by the aforementioned group. Sausage sizzles, kids play areas, helpful friendly staff and a wide range of low priced products plus no parking hassles is by and large what enabled them to dominate the hardware market.
I reckon they are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Good Luck.

I as many love the 'big green shed'. My grandchildren love going with poppy too.

The only thing I don't like is how they allow dogs in now. I must admit though that I haven't seen many there, infact only twice since they introduced the idea.

I'm ducking for cover now :)

Ditto Dougwe I also like Bunnings but it's because I hate shopping and normally I can go into the local store find exactly what I want and be out within a few minutes. Personally I don't take much notice of advertising slogans (theirs or anyone else's) and if it's a significant purchase worth more than a few $ I will check their competitors prices on the internet before I leave home. We went to Masters a few times because they sold brands that Bunnings didn't have such as Webber but unfortunately they weren't as conveniently located, although Masters had bought parcels of land in different areas to expand they never got around to building their stores before the decision was taken by Woolies to close.

Hi smile

I like to go to Bunnings for two reasons,

Firstly the stock is there laid out to look at, so you can see what you need. Or compare it to other ways of doing the job.

Secondly the price is always good in my experience, and they do not offer specials. The same good price every day you go in.

So when I go to do a job, I do not have to waste time thinking about the hardware supplier, just go there and they have the stock and the price is good, job half done before I start. biggrin

Cant say it's a love thing with me, however it's nice to be able to get exactly what you need.

We have 5 local h/ware stores, if I need something a little specialised don't even bother with em, know what the answer will be, wait till I can visit a Bunnings store in the smoke.

As far as allowing dogs, I'm a dog person, wouldn't dream of taking Fido shopping, only need to an aggressive canine and it's on for young and old, not to mention the problems with anti doggers and kids, leave the pooch at home.

Smuggled Molly in one day in my handbag. It was too hot in the car. This was before there was any questions about dogs allowed or not. Unfortunately she wouldn't play stuffed toy and ended up riding out in the open in the trolly. Nobody said anything. Just " Isn't she cute" which she plays up to and expects. She's 2kgs. lol

 I guess your serious.smilebiggrin

Under what circumstances would the law apply?

Would you mind explaining how exactly you arrived at the magical figure of 4.5 kg?

Who would enforce this policy, State police, or some little jumped up local govt person with an official hat and a set of digital scales.biggrin

Usual disclaimer, that I am not associated with anyone who is selling anything

I like Bunnings for three reasons

Firstly there is one in my home base town, so it is convenient for me, and I can shop local
Secondly I can look up on the net, to see if they sell the item I require, before visiting the shop
Thirdly I can take an item back, to any other Bunnings, with no questions asked, providing I have the receipt

Cant argue with any of your points Tony, being able to return other stores is certainly a bonus for travelers.biggrin

Recoup did the vet ever ask which dog started the fight. My dog 17kgs kelpie cross keeps being attacked by 4.5 kg dogs at van parks, so he will not be having a muzzle. People think these small dogs are cute and let them run off lead.

Not a problem we've experienced, when do these frequent attacks occur, while your dog is under your control or when it's off the lead? (roaming)

Regarding muzzles, we muzzle our dog when in area's that we know baiting takes place and at no other time.

Yep we travel a lot.smile

We always travel with our small dog. Invariably when we're out in the van, hubby needs something fron Bunnings. We have taken him to many stores. They are to be muzzled, in a cage, carried or in a trolley. This past weekend we needed screws to install the sirocco fan. Staff even bent a cardboard box to fit in the top of the trolley. Never any trouble but he does give the children a smile.

Our dog is always on a lead when away from home. Getting off topic, will say no more on dogs. Happy travels.

It's those little dogs, who think there  10 foot tall and have small dog syndrome, that cause all the problems with there

high pitched yapping.. " He won't bite " .. How many times I've heard those famous last words.

Leave em in the car or put em on a lead....

I suppose with the missus being knocked to the ground by a german shepard (who's owner let it run free) forcing her to the ground, then loosing grip on the lead and followed by the shepard picking up our ziggy in its mouth and giving her good a shake would make you act like your 10 foot tall when you see any dog from then on.

Yes, true story... Macrossin Park Charters Towers Qld 4 years ago.

Bunnings is awesome, I am there often and can find all I need in the one place.  However, they lack floor staff badly and this seems to be a complaint of many....Kisha
