Yep . Could be anything . Seen people pull up beside another . Then complain about things . When at times there's 1000,0000 acres out there . I'm changing pop corn from salty to caramel . Washed down with diet drink ! lol more things to worry about ..
If everyone gave it some thought, and used enough solar panels and a gas bottle, there should be no need for Generators, except for perhaps a few weeks of the year when it gets very hunid. The answer then is to plan your trip, and either plug in your a/c in a Caravan park, or make sure you are not in an area that is humid !!!

Broke no law, but why the need to put it on the side nearer others? If there was a genuine reason, then it may be polite to speak to anyone nearby first.
I know it's pointless in terms of this discussion, as there is no common ground between people on this.
However, who was there first? I Know it doesn't make much difference but I wonder. Secondly, Splottboy, it is a silly position to say stay in caravan park when you need generator. I assume this is a free or low cost camp with no restrictions. As such, as long as that is the case, nothing precludes the person using his generator during reasonable hours. It would be good to see some showing a modicum of consideration the other way, rather than expecting everyone to comply to their wishes.
People should just get over it. You get what you pay for at a free camp, and everyone has the right to camp in the manner that they see fit, within the sites rules.
I find it hard to believe the level of childish behaviour that is spoken about at times. At least no one has mentioned sabotaging the generator yet. Talk about BS and Bravado!

Yes I have rubber mats ( mud flaps) lining my inbuilt geni close to ground . To try and quietin noise . Plus some sound deadening on solid panels inside, under motorhome . From 40m you can hardly hear it ..

I remember reading about a person who decided to "fix" his perceived problem with someone running a generator.
The peanut thought that if he cut the lead from the generator to the caravan then that would fix it.
The only thing it fixed was the peanut himself.
Some people may not have the room for solar and their use of their RV may not warrant purchasing a big bank of solar for occasional use.
If someone is using a generator and its use is not contrary to local regulations then deal with it.
I have found most people considerate when using their gennie.....We were free camping a few weeks ago and a fellow caravanner had to use his generator,.
He came over and apologised for using it and actually he was so far away, (about 100 meters) that I could not even hear it.
As he said, he feels so guilty about using it due to some complaints from others.
I think he ran it for about an hour or so but it may have been longer...as I said to him..who cares! It was in the middle of the day.
I start mine sometimes to use our coffee maker but avoid cranking it up before 9.00am.

I have had a person actually sit his generator right alongside my bus at least 20m from his caravan. Not on the other side in the bush.
He said his wife did not like the noise as it interfered with her watching the TV and it went till about 2 in the morning and started again at 6 so they could cook breakfast.
After a couple of days he came looking for petrol as he had run out and he wanted to stay for another day.
I had fuel for emergencies but as I don't use a generator and I thought I was very patient I said I had none.
It was an old 5KVA clanger and was not quiet.
I have seen many others refuse to shut down as it was their only power source.
One of the reasons I always park well away from others and if too many roll up it is a few minutes to pack up and move on.
Always two sides to a story and believe me there is people on both sides of the coin.
Even here we have people saying they will run their generator if the want to so no different to someone who has setup to survive without power.
Similar to someone lighting a fire right in the wind path into your van is that OK or would you get a bit narky.
The more we get chasing the lifestyle we want the more I want to get away.
Excluded spots for me and the less people the better, if I pull into a site and there are more than three vans and I cant get at least 100 metres away I move on.
