Calling all ex RAAF grey nomads

I hope this is OK Cindy, please delete if it infringes any rules.

All ex RAAFies on the road, please note a new Facebook page called ex RAAFies grey nomads, it's worth being a member.

Cheers

At Barkley homestead May 2016 watched a fellow struggle with new knees getting into the pool. Had a conversation. Told me he spent 31 years in the RAAF. I told him I spent 3 years also in the RAAF. He looked at me. "I know you" "Nah I said, I was in it between 1973 and 1976." Eventually I told him I spent 45 minutes on Darwin's tarmac after cyclone Tracy, unloading a Hercules aircraft. "That's where I've seen you". That was in 1974 ...41 years ago. I was 18yo. Amazing.

Huh ..

I just missed you Eaglemax.

I was in Darwin during the restoration phase .  From April to July 1976.  By then there was A/C in our pub & lots of cold beer despite the national beer strike .. but that's another story.

Not in RAAF though.  My 'Service' was with the Cut Lunch Commandos ..  "drop shorts'.
