New South Wales national park fees

In the Grey Nomad Times issue 126 Ed N stated that entry to NSW national parks is not free to people from other states. This is not true.

Any Australian pensioner can apply and  get a free pass.  The free pass dose not apply to a couple of National parks near Sydney.

NSW residence who are not pensioners have to pay.

I have a free pass and I live in Qld.

From my understanding it is only free for pensioners not senior card holders.

Read my link again. It clearly states

With an NPWS exemption card, pensioner Concession Card holders and EDA, Intermediate and Special Rate (blinded, TPI and TTI) pensioners are entitled to free motor vehicle entry into all fee-collecting national parks and reserves.

Thanks for that, but I tried to find what EDA means.

Thanks tiger5 for your reply.

Those who can not get a pension when they are of pension age have too much money to deserve a discount.

Getting in to a can of worms here. Just because I went without many things during my working career in an attempt to not be a burden on those still working, I am exempt from any benefits that others get? Those others who had no concern for saving during their working life? If I am of a pension age, why should'nt I get a free pass for NSW National parks.

Yes, I agree Steve. In am on a disability pension due to an horrendous work place accident. I had planned to be non pension dependent BUT my plan was foiled.no It certainly would not hurt for self funded people to receive a few perks. nod.gif

Everyone 65 and over should get the free pass. Just show your drivers licence to prove your age.

They do give you a discount if you've got a Seniors Card. We bought a 2 year Country Parks Pass for $60 ($75 for non-Seniors) www.environment.nsw.gov.au/resources/parkpass/annualPassForm.pdf

Spend some of that pile of assets till your down below about 1.2 million or below $850 thousand after Jan 2017 and you too can be on a pension and get all those perks that the rest of us get and live our lavish lifestyle too.
A couple of Round the World Cruises on the QE2 should help reduce all that pesky money.
Cheers

Is that what you did David?

I like your attitude as well PeterD!

I think it fine to means or asset test the pension, but all other benefits such as health card, discounts etc should be available to all.

Remember, we all worked to make this place a good place to live, and all deserve some reward for that.

The attitude to some members by others in this place is ridiculous.
