Wiring for diesel heaters

Hi Sparkster and others that have installed a Eberspacher D2. The wiring diagrams that came with the unit don't match the wiring colours of the harness. Am waiting on dealer to reply but wondering has anyone else had this problem and as to what colour wires  connect to what colour wires

the main harness has big brown ( earth) big red ( positive) but also a small red and red & white ?  Do these go to the positive as well?

fuel pump. Wires OK

The continuing harness has

white and red..grey..brown..brown and white..grey and red..yellow..blue and white..blue.. blue and red..red

the temp control - on - off switch has

blue and grey ?? Grey and black ??  Neither of these two colours in any harness.... And brown  and red.

can anyone help me  to what wires conect to what...

Len...

Wow, the 'cheap' knock-off Belief brand must be better than the Name Brands.

When I fitted the Belief all connections were done by plugs & sockets, idiot proof.

Maybe not quite idiot proof, the instructions said to connect + & - directly to the battery via a fuse.  confuse

I was too smart for that, I connected to the fuse panel. no

When I finally got sick of flickering lights I did what they said & fixed the problem.biggrin

I had absolutely no problems with the wiring or colors so I can't help you in that regard. It was 3 years ago that I did mine, it sounds like they've made a few changes since then.

I had a query regarding the wiring change for the temperature sensing and the fella actually rang me here in Sydney from the UK and apologized that it was so late at night (10.30pm). He couldn't have been any more helpful and in fact he just wanted to chat-very helpful.

If you have dramas to the extent you describe I would be patient and wait for his reply.

Like Delta18 my Eberspaecher D2 was all straight forward.

Edit; I bought mine online from the UK so maybe they pay a bit more attention to details such as you mention.

Hi Keith, Neil and Lynne, and yes I bought mine on line from the Uk, very helpful when purchasing, was surprised when the unit came all the wires- had no plugs installed but little plastic bags with all the plugs and ends to go on the wires that then need to be fitted to make the plugs, males and females, bit disappointed but it's the wire colours that's thrown me.
Hopefully they will be as helpful now. Will keep all posted.

Thanks Bill,  I'm going to have to wait for them to reply. None of the wiring info on any site including this one has the colour wires that came with my harness or control. Everything else is or looks to be genuine. I'm just hoping it's a newer model. Well it doesn't hurt to dream.

I got mine from ButlerBus Technik Ltd (direct from the UK) and I did find the delay in emails was a bit slow mainly due to weekends and public holidays which always seem to get in the way when you need answers.

Hang in there, it will all be worth it in the long run.

I was very conscious of the warnings about noise coming from the heater particularly the pump.

So make sure wherever the fuel feed pipe from the pump to the heater is secured keep it off any of the chassis/body work. I used a foam tube from Clark rubber around the pipe everywhere I used a saddle and if the pipe looked like it would touch the chassis etc. I used some of the foam tube on the pipe just in case.

I also used a muffler on the exhaust and a "combustion line silencer" on the inlet side. Same deal, hang them clear of the chassis as you would a muffler and pipe on a car.

All this extra work was so effective that when I eventually turned the system on for the first time I thought it wasn't working as there was no noise!

I was very happy with the diesel heater, very quiet and quite economical.

I now have gas in our new 'van, mainly because the dollar was so out of kilter and was going to cost too much but the gas heater also is great and just a tad quieter.

Good Luck.

Hi, update, Heatso trading as Redmman returned my emails yesterday ( not a holiday in UK )with a new wiring diagrams. It is a different controller and the wiring harness includes wires for high altitude attachment and ? I wired it up on the bench with out fuel and so far all works.
It was delivered in 5 days and including freight was less than $ 1,000.00 without a fuel tank and floor mounting plate. If you go over a $1,000.00 you pay Gst. Besides the wiring harness and confusion I would recommend to check out Heatso if your looking for a diesel heater.
To buy the same unit in Australia you start at $2,000.00 plus

And thanks for the mounting tips Keith, will go that way as "she " has very good hearing.

I fitted the $790 model to our 24' Jayco Sterling. Everything except a tank so I used a 10 litre yellow diesel plastic gerry can.

Quite a number of people are using the Planer as we are with good results.
